Heidi Zacher

If you’re a native of Lenggries/Upper Bavaria it goes without saying that you were born with skies clipped on – and joined the Lenggries Ski Club right in the delivery room. Just take Martina Ertl, Anderl Ertl, Hilde Gerg, Annemarie Gerg and Florian Eckert, for example -- and Heidi Zacher, of course. She’s 23 and has been skiing for 21 years. Three years ago, she switched from skiing with poles to a career in ski cross where she’s been running flat-out ever since. With a height of just 1.67 m and tipping the scales at 60 kg, she’s doing an outstanding job of standing her ground in the KO-style rounds of four in this winter sport discipline. In the past 2010/11 season, Heidi won her first World Cup race in St. Johann/Tyrol, finished the Skicross-goes-Germany inaugural event at Grasgehren as the runner-up and was leading the overall World Cup for a long time. In the end, she finished the overall classification as the runner-up as well. For the upcoming season, her eyes are clearly focused in one direction: upward.
